Kenyan runners visited economy school in Salzburg

Lucia Kimani and Josephat Kiprono Rotich, two runners which will participate at the Salzburg AMREF Marathon on April 24 2005, visited the commercial school in Salzburg.

They met some of Salzburgs top runners and the pupils of HAK 2 (participants of last years relay run from Salzburg to Reims in France) for a short run in the pleasing sun of the beginning springtime. In the English lesson before, they told about life and training conditions in their home country Kenya.

The head of AMREF, Dr. Walter Schmidjell, explained the goals of the African Medical and Research Foundation. Spontaneously the pupils decided to organize a collection for AMREF. Dr. Schmidjell was happy about the readiness of the pupils and is full of hope that many people will follow this example.

Afterwards Coca Cola sales manager Thomas Nobis started this years AMREF donation campaign with a Euro 1.500, - cheque. Nobis said: "We are happy to support the fantastic team of AMREF Austria and its charity projects. In addition - running is an outstanding opportunity to do something for your own health."

Organizer Johannes Langer: "A perfect start for the Salzburg running highlight of the year. On April 24 (9:00 a.m) marathon, half marathon and relay marathon have a common goal: running together - for yourselves and others health.
