Salzburg Marathon 2020 cancelled

Dear running friends!

The inevitable cannot be postponed anymore. In coordination with the city and state of Salzburg, we have to cancel the Salzburg Marathon 2020 after a comprehensive assessment of all currently known circumstances. We understand, of course, that this is a great disappointment for many of you. You may be able to imagine what it feels like for us.

The 17th edition will therefore take place as part of the Running Festival in Mozart City from 14th to 16th May, 2021. A postponement of the event for a few months could not have been realized. It needs conditions that are not available at any time in in the city of Salzburg.

We have closely monitored and discussed the development of the spread of the corona virus with different authorities in recent days. Since the pandemic is spreading at a rapid pace and the near future is unforeseen, we have made the decision to cancel the Salzburg Marathon. Such a decision could only be made after weighing all the arguments.

The cancellation is due to our responsibility towards society and the health of our participants, visitors and helpers.

We want to recommend the “Jedermannlauf“ in Salzburg, on October 2020, 4. We hope that this traditional half marathon can take place and we would like invite all runners to join us as a sign of attachment.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we try to overcome this situation. Our business operation is switched to homework until further notice. Accordingly, we ask you for understanding that we can only do the most urgent tasks at the moment. We ask all those who have taken out insurance at the time of registration to contact the insurance via the link in their registration confirmation (it also applies when the event is cancelled! ).

Please give us time to clarify everything. We then will communicate further details which may be important for you.

Take care of yourselves and your loved ones - stay healthy!
See you soon with love regards
Ruth & Johannes Langer
